How to Mount an LCD TV Wall Bracket
You have just bought your first LCD TV and think that you will put the TV with its pedestal on a table in your recreation room. You try that position but determine the TV is too low. You can mount your LCD TV on the wall if you have another person to help you. The key is to measure first and use a level before you drill into the wall.
Instructions
- 1
Place the LCD TV on its pedestal on the floor. Pry off the plastic caps covering the screw holes on the back of the TV. Screw in both mounting brackets on the back of the TV with a screwdriver.
2Attach the wall mount to the back of the TV temporarily. Measure the distance between the bottom of the TV (do not include the pedestal) and the bottom of the wall mount. Use a level to make sure your measurement is accurate. Measure the full height of the TV and mark on the wall where the middle of the TV at eye level will be if you are sitting down. There should be a electrical outlet on this wall. If not, have one installed for easier LCD TV wall mounting.
3Find the studs on the wall where the LCD TV will be mounted. Use the stud finder to find the middle of the studs and mark each one on the wall with a pencil. Use a level to ensure accurate measurements.
4Remove the wall mount from the back of the LCD TV and have your helper hold the bracket on the wall, using the markings you made in Steps 2 and 3. Check the bracket with a level and then drill the wall mount screws in on each side. Check the bracket with a level again before you put the screws into the wall all of the way.
5Remove the pedestal from the bottom of the LCD TV and lift the TV up with you and your helper holding each side. Hang the TV onto the mount by the two brackets you screwed into the back of the TV. Plug in the AV and power cords and check the level of the TV once more.
