How to Mount a Flat Screen to Stone
Flat screen TVs have been gaining traction as the television technology of choice since the early twenty-first century. One of the advantages of flat screen TVs to their CRT predecessors is that they are much smaller and weigh far less. Mounting your flat screen TV to a stone wall may seem like a tricky endeavor, but if you are handy you will be able to do so by following these instructions.
Instructions
Drilling the wall
- 1
Look at your mounting bracket's instruction booklet and find out how far apart the screws must be, and how long your screws are.
2Mark off the points on your stone wall where you will place your bolts. Be very careful and precise when doing this as additional replacement holes will potentially damage your wall.
3Take your SDS drill and set it to 'Drill", then drill your holes. If you are having trouble making headway with your holes, use the "hammer and drill" setting on your drill. Make sure you do not have it set to "hammer and drill" when removing the drill from the wall.
4Place your bolts into the wall and secure the mounting kit using a screwdriver. Make absolutely sure the mounting kit is snug with the wall before proceeding.
- 5
Take the second portion of your flat panel mounting kit and attach it to your TV.
6Attach all the cables to your TV before mounting it to the wall as they will be harder to reach after mounting.
7Have a friend help you lift the TV to the mounting bracket and attach it firmly to the wall.
