How to Mount a Direct TV Receiver on the Wall
Wall-mounting DirecTV receivers on specialized equipment shelves makes sense in places where adding A/V furniture is either impractical or impossible. This often is the case in bedrooms, kids' play areas and kitchens, where floor and counter space is at a premium. Although these shelving options have been around for quite some time, their popularity has increased as more people mount flat screens on the wall. Mounting small components is really not much different than hanging a heavy shelf and requires basic tools.
Instructions
Hang out
- 1 Locate a stud in the desired mounting area using the stud finder. Hold the wall bracket against this location and mark four holes on the wall through the bracket with the drill bit.
2 Set aside the wall bracket. Drill the four holes marked previously, ensuring that the stud's center is being hit in the process.
3 Return the wall bracket to the wall. Use the supplied bolts and the socket wrench to secure the bracket in place. Use the level to ensure the mount is straight prior to tightening the bolts fully. (There should be enough play in the bolt holes to make minor adjustments.)
4 Insert the U-shaped shelf in the wall bracket in the supplied receiving areas. Secure the insert into the receiving area with the small supplied screw and Allen wrench. Snap over the cosmetic trim piece to cover the the wall bracket and tap the two cosmetic end caps into the ends of the shelf with the hammer.
