How to Wall-Mount a Flat Panel TV

Due to their thin nature, more and more people are choosing to mount their flat panel televisions on walls than to place them on traditional TV stands. Flat panel TVs are lightweight and can be hung similar to the way a picture frames are, which is appealing for people with rooms with limited space. A flat panel television must be mounted properly, however, or you run the risk of the piece of electronics you just spend $1,000 on crashing to the ground.

Instructions

Mounting the TV

    1

Locate studs in the part of the wall where you want to hang your television. Studs are sturdy pieces of wood placed in walls that are used to securely hang things. To locate a stud, purchase a stud finder from a local hardware store. Mark the location of the studs you find with a pencil.

    2

Screw the first part of the flat panel television wall mounting kit into the position on the wall you've chosen. Be sure to screw it directly into the studs you've previously found for stability.

    3

Take the second piece of the flat panel television wall mounting kit and fit it directly to the back of your television. The kit piece will line up directly with multiple screw holes on the back of the television. Once it is lined up, screw the piece directly onto your television.

    4

Pick up the television and slide it into the first half of the wall mounting kit that is already attached to your wall. These two pieces will lock into place. Once the two pieces are securely interlocked, step away from the television. Your flat panel TV is now mounted to your wall.
