How to Install a Flat Screen Wall Mount
The lightweight electronic design of a flat-screen TV enables it to be mounted to any wall constructed with interior wooden studs. Installing the flat screen to the wall requires the use of a wall mount -- of which there are a variety available from hardware, electronics and home and garden supply shops. The wall mount fits into predrilled holes on the TV's back panel and then into the wall. Household tools are all that is needed.
Instructions
- 1
Place the wall mount against the wall at the height that you want the flat screen to be. Draw a mark on the wall, using a pencil, through the top hole in the left and right bracket on the wall mount.
2Place the wall mount against the back panel of the flat screen. Line up the holes in the brackets with those on the back panel. Screw metal screws through the holes in the bracket and into the holes in the back panel -- use a Phillips screwdriver to do this. Tighten the screws until the resistance is too hard to continue.
3Press the "On" button at the side of the electronic stud finder to initialize it for use. Place the electronic stud finder against one of the marks on the wall. Press the finder against the wall as you drag it towards the right. Stop the finder immediately upon hearing a buzzing sound. Mark an "X" against the top edge of the finder on the wall, using the pencil. Repeat this procedure exactly, only first placing the finder on the other mark on the wall.
4Lift the flat screen at one side while a helper does the same on the other side. Place the flat screen against the wall so that the hole at the top of the brackets line up with the "X" marks. Screw wood screws through the holes using the Phillips screwdriver. Screw wood screws through any other holes that are accessible on the bracket to further secure the flat screen to the wall.
5Run the power cord down the wall to an AC outlet and plug it in. Insert a HDMI cable into the HDMI output on the back or side of the flat screen. Run the HDMI cable down the wall and over to a video source device, for example, a Blu-ray player. Plug the free end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI output on the video source device.
