How to Setup a Wall Mount TV

Mounting your flat screen TV on a wall rather than setting it on a stand in the middle of your living room can free up space in your home, allowing for more comfortable living. Flat screen TVs are made with VESA holes specifically designed to mount on your wall.

Instructions

    1

Cover the TV screen with a blanket and lay it face down. Locate the screws on the back of the TV that run in line with the TV base. Unscrew the screws with a Phillips screwdriver and pull the base out the bottom of the TV.

    2

Find two vertical studs in the wall using a stud finder. Mark the outline of both studs with a pencil. Place the wall plate over the wall studs so that the holes where the lag bolts go through are lying over the studs. Insert the lag bolts through the holes and tighten them into the wall with a wrench. As you tighten the lag bolts, they will go deeper into the wall, first through the drywall then into the wall studs.

    3

Find the VESA holes for the wall mount brackets. Align VESA holes on the brackets to line up with the VESA holes on the back of your TV. Insert the VESA holes through the brackets and into the TV. Use a Phillips screwdriver to completely tighten the VESA screws.

    4

Carry the TV to the wall plate. Place the brackets into the connectors and tighten the security bolt to keep the connection in place. To connect the brackets to the wall plate connectors, you will need to see the back of the TV to align it just right. You will need an assistant to either lift or guide the brackets to the connectors.
