How to Hang a LCD Wall Mount

Wall mounts for TV sets and other LCD video monitors come in many shapes, sizes and designs, and they may or may not work with certain monitors. The exact method of hanging a wall mount will vary because of this. There are, however, some basic steps that will likely apply to most mounts. Most wall mounts come in two parts: One that fastens to the wall and another that connects to the monitor. Always check your own monitor's instruction manual before proceeding.

Instructions

    1

Locate the wooden studs within the walls, as the mount's fasteners have to go in them. An electric stud finder can do this by putting it up against the wall and reading the depth.

    2

Place the mount against the wall by hand and position it so it is level. Mark the locations of the mounting holes using a pen/marker, making sure they are in the areas of the studs. This may require multiple persons.

    3

Drill holes in the wall/studs at the marked spots. Use a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the mount's own fasteners.

    4

Fasten the mount's wall end to the wall using the screws. These can vary depending on the model, as they can either require your drill and a screwdriver bit or a wrench.

    5

Attach the other part of the mount to the LCD monitor. Look for the mounting holes in the back (you may need to remove the end caps) and apply the mounting screws in the holes; use a hand screwdriver.

    6

Connect the two parts of the mount together using their connecting brackets, mounting the monitor to the wall at the same time.
