How to Mount Your LCD TV on a Brick Wall
Liquid crystal display (LCD) is an energy efficient electronic visual screen used in TVs, computers and other consumer devices. Typically, an LCD TV is thin and lightweight, and can be installed on not just drywalls, but brick walls as well. Since the design of LCDs is minimalistic and simple, they blend well with just about any style of interior design. With the right kind of support and mounting kit, you can install your LCD wherever you want.
Instructions
- 1
Purchase a mounting kit from your local hardware or home improvement store, making sure the screws and bolts in the kit are for brick walls. The mount should accommodate the display size and the weight of your LCD TV.
2Choose the area on your wall where you are going to mount your TV. Consider the features of the room and the placement of your furniture. You should mount the TV near an electrical outlet.
3Make a mock-up of your LCD TV by cutting out a piece of cardboard the size of the TV. Mount the cardboard on the wall with double-sided tape. Check if there are any reflections from sunlight coming through the windows or light from fixtures that can't easily be moved. Make sure the position of the mock-up is at a comfortable eye level.
4Mark the exact place where the LCD will be mounted with a pencil or chalk. Use a level to make sure that the mark is straight.
5Position the mounting brackets on the wall to see where you need to make holes for the screws. Mark the screw holes with a pencil, making sure that the holes are level. If there are two mounting brackets, both brackets should be installed at the same height and in a way so that the weight of the TV will be distributed equally on both of them.
6Drill holes into the brick at the marks that you made for the screw holes, keeping the power drill perfectly horizontal.
7Put the plastic anchors for the screws in the holes. Use a hammer to gently tap them all the way in.
8Attach the mounting brackets onto the brick wall. Use the drill to tighten the screws of the mounting brackets.
9Ask a friend to help you mount the TV onto the brackets and into the slots. After the LCD is on the wall, make sure that the safety tabs on the brackets are in place. These tabs close the rails of the mounts and keep the TV securely positioned.
