Choosing the Proper Television Wall Mount

Advancements in flat screen television technology has progressed so much over the past few years. Because of this there really is no reason not to pick yourself out a flat screen television if you are thinking about getting a new TV.

The quality of the picture has become very clear, which means that it does not matter what angle you look at the TV, you should be able to get the full effect of the TV from a wide variety of angles.

Another benefit to flat screen televisions being readily available to consumers is that it has made it possible for you to mount your TV to your wall. Mounting your television to your wall is the perfect solution for rooms where you need more space for other items in your room.

Flat screen televisions are attached to the wall using special television wall mounts that can be purchased at many stores. Mounting your television to the wall is a great solution if you want to make sure your TV is securely fastened to the wall, provided you installed everything properly. Most of the wall mounts allow your television to be fixed to your wall securely.

However, there are some more advanced wall mounting systems out there that allow for much more versatility when it comes to viewing the TV. There are swiveling wall mounts (they swivel left and right), tilting wall mounts (which tilt up and down), and articulating mounts (allow you to swivel your TV left and right, as well as tilt it up and down).

The most important thing that you will want to consider before you make your purchase of a wall mount, is to make sure that your mount is solid and that it can support the full weight of your television. The last thing you want is to improperly mount your beautiful (expensive) new flat screen television to the wall and risk allowing the television to fall to the ground and most likely break. Make sure that you inspect your wall mount thoroughly just to make sure that everything seems to have a high quality feel to it.

Make sure that you research different brands and make sure your wall mount is easy to assemble and hopefully install by yourself your by a professional. Once your wall mount is installed make sure it feels like it can hold the weight of the television and do not risk letting the precious television fall.

A Guide to Choosing a TV Wall Bracket

There are many different types of TV wall brackets available to wall mount your TV and we will run through them here in details so you can decide which one will be best to wall mount your new flat screen TV.

Flat Wall Mount
For those who want to mount the TV on a flat wall and would like the TV to be as close to the wall as possible then the flat mount is ideal.

If you shop around you should be able to find a TV wall bracket that has a very thin profile of just an inch which will keep the TV nice and flush to the wall.

Tilting Wall Mount
The tilting mount is again ideal for a flat wall and the bracket can actually be flat as well as tilted down slightly usually no more than 15 degrees. This mount is useful if the flat screen TV is mounted quite high on the wall in relation to where people are going to be sat watching it. It's also a good choice where light perhaps from a window is likely to be shining on the screen. With the ability to adjust the angle of the screen you can get rid of light being reflected and spoiling the picture quality.

Tilting mounts however will always be a little thicker in depth than a pure flat mount so your TV will have a bigger gap behind it. This doesn't matter in situations where you are sitting directly in front of the TV but if you regularly have to view it from the side you will see the mount behind the screen etc.

Tilt & Swivel Wall Mount
The tilt and swivel bracket is one of the most commonly bought mounts for smaller LCD TVs up to 32 inch in size. The tilt and swivel TV mounts allow movement from left to right and up and down giving the viewer the ability to view from lots of different seating positions.

As with a tilting mount this type of TV wall bracket will create a bigger gap behind your TV screen than a flat mount but you do have the benefit of different movement.

Cantilever Wall Mounts
These are the ultimate TV wall mounts in terms of flexibility of movement. The allow you to pull your TV away from the wall on an arm in a straight direction and then consitina back to the wall. Not only that they also tilt up and down and move from left to right. Cantilever mounts are often used to go across a corner of a room or where the TV viewing angle needs to be altered so it can be seen in 2 rooms such as a lounge and dining room.

Ceiling TV Mounts
These are generally used by businesses rather than homes and you will often see Plasma TVs suspended from the ceiling in supermarkets advertising products. Also they are frequently used in leisure centers, nightclubs, bars and pubs as it keeps the screen out of touching distance and gives everyone the best view of the screen.

Hopefully you will find this guide useful in choosing a TV wall bracket for your Plasma or LCD TV no matter what size screen you buy. Read other article on Buying a Sanus Wall Mount
